Get more referral from your Client with LinkedIn - 2excel Tuesday Hack

Hey there, and welcome to this week's Tuesday 2excel Hack.

So this week, we're going to go through a little LinkedIn hack which I absolutely love. So I've got this one from Marissa and Simon, from a networking group called BNI, and it's absolutely awesome. I love using it just as I'm about to go into a meeting with a potential client, to get more referrals.

So as you can see on the screen here, I've got my LinkedIn page, and I'll go in here, and I'll go searching for somebody. So I'll pick on this guy, Darren Wright. So let's say I'm about to have a meeting with this guy. What I like to do is look at the LinkedIn page, scroll down a little bit until I find an endorsement or a recommendation. So when I see these recommendations, I like to click on that person, and see whether or not they're an ideal referral for me, because if they are, then there's a good chance that Darren could know this person quite well, and I could possibly ask for a referral to meet Alan at Bunnings.

So the wording might go - as I’m going through my meeting - would be, "You wouldn't happen to know anyone who's in retail sales at Bunnings by any chance, would you?" and lo and behold, there's a good chance that he may just recognize or know this person himself. The other area that I like to look at when I'm going through somebody's LinkedIn profile, that I'm about to have a meeting with - the recommendations that he's received. So if I hover over these pictures, what'll turn up is a brief description of this person. So for example, guy, he's in real estate for Ray White. So once again I could ask, "Hey, listen. You wouldn't happen to know a guy, I believe he works for Ray White?" because it would be an ideal referral for me, because of their product or service that can save him time and money in what he does.

That last are that I like to look at when I'm going through somebody's LinkedIn profile would be all of their connections. So all of the connections that they've got, and at the moment you can see that there's five hundred, but I would scout through here and see if there's anyone that actually tweaks my eyes, or I think would be a good connection for myself. I can click through to the next button, and just go through all of his connections, and just see whether or not I can get a warm introduction to this person.
